Tamaarvik Territorial Park (Campground)

Overview

Tamaarvik Territorial Park (campground) is located a pleasant half-hour walk from Pond Inlet. With tent platforms, windbreaks, barbeque pits and a comfort station, it provides a nice alternative to hotels. Tamaarvik is popular with visitors and residents alike because of the good berry picking and its close proximity to fishing sites and traditional sod houses. Hiking opportunities are plentiful in and around the scenic community of Pond Inlet. Experienced backpackers can trek to glaciers and mountains southeast of Pond Inlet in two to five days. Hikers can also climb a trail to the summit of the 765 metre tall (2,510 ft.) Mount Herodier, located 15 kilometres (nine miles) east of Pond Inlet, for a breathtaking view of the entire area.
