Nunavut Tourism hosts dinner for media and tour operators
Nunavut Tourism recently hosted a dinner at Brassai restaurant in downtown Toronto for over 30 media and tour operators. The dinner, which featured turbot and shrimp from Nunavut waters, included a presentation about tourism opportunities delivered by Nunavut Tourism’s CEO Colleen Dupuis and a visit from Nunavut Tourism’s new mascot for recreational sport fishing, Charly the Char. Attendees included high-profile fishing TV personality Bob Izumi, editor of Cruise & Travel Magazine Liz Fleming, and significant media outlets such as the Globe & Mail and CTV.
Events like this are an essential means of generating awareness about tourism experiences in Nunavut, establishing relationships with media and tour operators, and creating new opportunities to grow tourism in Nunavut. Connections made at the event will result in media tours this summer, potential is high that internationally recognized tour operators will pick up Nunavut product. This is the second year that Nunavut Tourism has hosted a dinner for media and tour operators, and given the success of the evening, it’s likely that future similar events will be planned.
