Nunavut Tourism is committed to visiting several of our communities each year in order to keep current with the needs and concerns of the tourism industry across Nunavut. During these visits, we meet with existing and potential members, community partners, and often give a presentation at the schools about career opportunities in tourism and the benefits that tourism can provide to the community.

Our priority, along with promoting Nunavut as a world-class tourism destination, is always to promote our members' products and services to potential travelers and to the travel trade.

Each year, the Canadian Tourism Commission organizes a tourism marketplace that brings together hundreds of international tour operators, travel agents, and other members of the travel trade with the Canadian tourism industry for four days of speed-dating-style appointments, networking events and professional development sessions to encourage more tourism in Canada. Nunavut Tourism, along with several of our members, attends this event every year as a rare and valuable opportunity to meet with international tour operators who are interested in carrying Nunavut product.

Nunavut Tourism recently hosted a dinner at Brassai restaurant in downtown Toronto for over 30 media and tour operators. The dinner, which featured turbot and shrimp from Nunavut waters, included a presentation about tourism opportunities delivered by Nunavut Tourism’s CEO Colleen Dupuis and a visit from Nunavut Tourism’s new mascot for recreational sport fishing, Charly the Char. Attendees included high-profile fishing TV personality Bob Izumi, editor of Cruise & Travel Magazine Liz Fleming, and significant media outlets such as the Globe & Mail and CTV.
